Cerberus Capital Management, founded by billionaire investor Stephen Feinberg who was appointed U.S. deputy secretary of defence in March, was preparing a formal proposal to buy the port.

Well it will be Cerberus Capital problem going forward It seems.

Not sure how that will be Australian ownership, the twisted web we weave.

AFAICS there's legally Australian ownership already, Landbridge aren't the owners, they simply have a 89 year lease (99 years from 2015) from the actual owners, who seem to be the NT government. So the Australian or NT governments need a means to void the lease early.

Yes, I am aware of the lease structure, the AUS govt has indicated that they wanted an Australian consortium to take over the lease.
