Topic came up as tangent to cancelled US 'Booker' not-light-enough tank project.

Could Pegasus 'Harrier' engine layout form core of a turbo-prop ??

Securely sub-sonic, meant for STOL rather than full VTOL, as up-grade to heavy-haulers that have run out of short-field capacity ??

The Pegasus started out as just that.

The Bristol Orion turboprop was the core of Wibault's original concept. Bristol simplified it by using the Orpheus, itself the HP section of the Orion, as the HP section of the early Pegasus.
