Work on the stadium is already underway in the Benslimane province just east of Casablanca, and back in May, it was reported that the stadium could host the World Cup final following its competition in late 2027.

But a report from Spanish publication Marca suggests the 85,000-capacity Santiago Bernabeu stadium is now expected to host the final after an agreement was reached between FIFA and Real Madrid.

"FIFA has never hidden its desire to see the final at Madrid's stadium," said the report.

"The final is a sure thing, but the federation needs to be smart. FIFA will open an office in Rabat after the summer, once Moroccan authorities have already approved the launch of a World Cup office in the capital."

The stadiums proposed to host the final were the Bernabeu, the Nou Camp and Morocco's Grand Stade Hassan II, but it appears FIFA have made their call.

I must admit that if I wanted to watch ants scurry about, I can look out of my living room window. Get to see the same thing pretty much, and save money/time while doing so.

No idea what the draw is for these heroic projects.
 
Oh, all those supersilly sportsball games... I still vividly remember the one and only time I ended up watching a sportsballsoccergame with my dad, because back in the day in Germany there was literally nothing else to watch on a Saturday late afternoon. However, both my dad and I were completely disinterested in any sports at all per se, so the only thing that ended up making us watch a game of a Stuttgart soccer team play against a Munich soccer team was because my dad thought the Munich team was way to arrogant, and I hated the Stuttgart team simply because it was from Stuttgart, where I went to university at the time, and I considered it an absolutely provincial bigoted little hellhole. I forgot who won, but I think watching something like that might have somehow broadened my intellectual life experience?
