I suspect that American-made M4 carbines are less expensive than Israeli- made Tavors.
Another factor is the dozen(s) of companies building M-forgeries. IDF could force them into a bidding war to drive down the price of contracts.
Like an Israeli parachute rigger explained "I cannot compete with free."

Maybe? Though not for the XM7 rifles except as a DMR. The M250 light machine guns are what I'd expect the Israelis to look at.
