Amazon continues world takeover by paying people well

And I regularly see adverts on TV from lawyers who will help people get significant compensation for being injured on the job.
 
A number of Canadian provinces have C$15 or more as minimum wage. The Feds are pushing for it nationally -- Most part time workers are on minimum wage ;)
 
Frack me, Amazon minimum wage is superior to France's own - close from 10 euros an hour. Can you believe that ? So much for socialist France ! Socialist Bezos... or maybe not.

New Zealand minimum wage is $20/hour, but thats $14 US.
 
What's the cost of living in all those countries though? I think France, Canada and New Zealand all have free (or heavily subsidized) health care, that's a big saving.

Yep, healthcare here is generally free or heavily subsidized. My Asthma inhaler ($496 US list price) costs me one prescription charge of $5 NZ / $3.50 US for 3 inhalers. You only have to pay 20 $5 charges for a year per family to get all additional medicine for free.

General cost of living generally is fairly high though - small market, long way away from things. House prices have gone insane.
 
I notice the article omits any mention of how well they pay (or otherwise treat) their many contractors. Given the horror stories that have surfaced on this, it seems they have a long way to go.
And let's not forget the shady business practices that have contributed to their taking over the world.
 
Their french counterpart CDiscount is equally horrible to its employees, managers, customers... altogether.

They have a huge logistic hub south of Bordeaux, a major job provider in the area. Their reputation is so horrible however that other brands logistics hubs in the same area (there a dozen of them grouped in the same place) are afraid of being tainted by their reputation.

The positive side of this is, they takes great pains caretaking their workers the opposite way of CDiscount, that is: humanly. I worked for Decathlon nearby, and its a polar opposite.

Cdiscount is used as a foil by its competitors... and so is Amazon.
