Judging from the number of cylinders, the front engine is a Lycoming IO-720 capable of producing 400 horsepower.

Why would the Navy need a COIN aircraft?
To stay relevant where it's at, from V-nam to A-stan?
Actually, since the Navy procures aircraft for the Marine Corps, they have been in the COIN aircraft business as long as anyone, starting with DH.4s in Nicaragua in the 1920s. Later, the Marines and Navy were the only users of OV-10s in the original COIN role.
