It's a good point. I don't recall ever seeing an image with them on single seaters. The second seat in the B series is in a fuel tank position which is likely why they had external tanks.
I've just had a look around and I couldn't find a single photograph of a single seater with external tanks. Plenty with the pylons and with bombs on those pylons. I found an excerpt from english pilot notes that the 262 flew better with bombs on or with the rear fuel tank empty as the CG was considered to be a little too far aft.
