An interesting interview with Rolls-Royce's future programmes chief engineer, Conrad Banks, on future developments the company is working on.
This seems to focus on the length and configuration of the intake and exhaust, an embedded starter-generator to remove the need for external gearboxes and ancillaries and advanced composites.
The obvious platform for all this work would seem to be FCAS, although maybe RR are eyeing up getting an engine onto to any future Airbus fighter effort that might materialise.
