Nakajima N-50 Recce Aircraft (C6N Saiun Predecessor)
« on: May 14, 2014, 01:19:26 am »
 Hi Guys
Now this is a topic that really grabs my attention, T-50.
Here is the apparent predecessor to the Nakajima C6N Saiun. The very unconventional Nakajima N-50 (High speed carrier base reconnaissance plane).
Cheers.

that's an very rare layout! the two engine that were based into the fuselage with axles to the wing to drive the propellers!
I know Koolhoven did the same thing with his FK-55 fighter  two engines that drive a two contra rotating propell or.
But it didn't work they assumed that the system was overheating.
Ill think the Nakajima engineers thought this concept was to complicated and abandoned this design for the later Seiun.

I wonder if someone on the design team had come across the Avro 678 project previously.

Japan, GB, and the US, too, see here http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1372.msg216674.html#msg216674
The idea seems to have been somehow virulent then !  ;)
It takes a long time, before all mistakes are made ...
