Thank you stargazer, but this WIG model have a box-wing !.

I agree! But both projects have appeared as the "Chaika-2" (literally: "Seagull-2") so I believe these are just two different stages of the project, the box wing version being the definitive one. Two more pics, which show both jet and prop variants of the same:

Following on from the Strizh images from Stargazer2006, please find below a brief brochure picked up in the late 1990's. It shows the Alexeyev (Alekseev / TsKB) Strizh-M and Strizh-3 designs.

Thanks! I have one question which will probably sound silly to all you Soviet aircraft experts, but anyway... Is the Alekseyev of the Orlyonok the same that did the post-war I-211, I-212, I-215 and I-218 jet fighters, or a totally different engineer?

Chief Designer Rostislav Evgenievich Alekseev was involved in the TsKB Ekranoplan projects and the I-218 and early designations were the work of Semyon Mikhailovich Alekseyev.

There is a profile of RE Alekseev at http://www.foils.org/alekseev.htm.

I think the problem is compounded once again by the variety of spellings of their surname!

This is my 3d model Ekranoplane. Modeling in Cinema 4d

But isn't there only ONE spelling in Russian?

It's only the Western transcriptions which are not always properly done. Alekseyev seems to be the best one (many Western journalists simply ignore that the second "e" is pronounced "ye"...). Alexeyev is an acceptable alternative I guess.

Semyon Alexeyev (1909-1993), the author of I-211 family, was Chief Designer of NPP Zvezda since October 1952 to 1964. This is the company which produces all Russian space suits and well-known K-36 ejection seat. The Yuri Gagarin's space suit SK-1 was designed under Alexeyev's lead. In January 1964 he left his chair, followed by Guy Severin. He was never involved in Ekranoplanes, and he isn't related to Rostislav Alexeyev (1916-1980).

P.S. Of course in Russian there is only one spelling of the surname: Алексеев.
