Beginning on 11 March 1944 a lone YB-29 named Hobo Queen (41-36963) was flown around Great Britain. Anyone have a good picture of it? -SP

Interesting. The closest I have found to B-29s in action in Europe were DA Tupolev Tu-4 "Bull" bombers bombed up and airborne to support the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956 but being turned back before entering Hungarian airspace.

I was under the impression that the idea behind this little tour was to convince German intelligence that the type would be deployed to the European theatre, despite the fact that it was not planned at that stage?

Please correct me if I am wrong?

You are correct. After its 'tour' it flew on to India to fly Hump supply missions into China. It was the only YB-29 to leave the U.S. -SP

Did any RAF personnel fly (as opposed to flying on) her during the tour?
