On February 2, 2013, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi introduced the world to the latest weapon in their country’s military arsenal: The Qaher 313 “Conqueror.” Iran claimed this home-grown stealth fighter was designed to carry two 2000-pound bombs or at least six PL-12 category air-to-air missiles.
Within days of the unveiling, military aviation experts from around the world were labeling the Qaher 313 a “laughable hoax,” noting the single-engine aircraft was far too small to perform as its owners claimed, and that it more resembled a Hollywood prop than a 21st century fighter.

Close-up photos of the cockpit were particularly damning, as the instrument panel was painfully simple, the cockpit tub barely large enough to fit its pilot. qaher 313 4.jpg qaher 313 5.jpg qaher 313 6.jpg qaher 313 7.jpg qaher 313 2.jpg
