Not certain but I think this was not a real aircraft. Certainly the engine cowl and prop are dummies, and the landing gear aren't very convincing either.

It looks like a big Fokker Dr I model ...

It does. That model is hanging in Quaker Square in Akron, OH. Since Quaker Oats used to distribute balsa models as premium offers, I'm betting this jumbo model originally acted as a promo for its smaller-scale balsa kin.
