Hi!
I'm know how working classic Twin Wasp and Double Wasp with 2stage 2speed supercharger.
F4U-1 / R-2800-8 curves:
616464
But I can't understand out how working superchargers in E-series with hydraulic coupling.
F4U-5 / 2stage R-2800-32W
616468

And incredible, mystical curves:
F8F-2 / 1stage R-2800-30W
616466

Fourth picture from old russian book Levin, Senichkin - Aviatsionnyye dvigateli 1951 p.103.
I think that in the red square may by kinematic scheme R-2800E-32W. Isn't it?

The R-2800-30W in the F8F-2 had a single stage supercharger with a continuously variable drive, very similar in concept to supercharger and drive used by the DB-601 / DB-605.

The R-2800-32W in the F4U-5 had a two stage supercharging system. There were two first stage super chargers, one on each side of the engine. The first stage compressors were driven by a continuously variable drive. The air from the first stage blowers went through an intercooler on its side of the airplane in the wing root. The two streams from the first stage then joined together before going through the second stage fixed speed compressor, then to the cylinders..

Sorry, but I see three small stage on the R-2800-30W-curve.
And the curves of the DB and R-2800 E-series is absolutly different (red color - working variable drive)

Yes! I'm know that the auxiliary stage of the supercharger in classic Wasps (for example R-1830-86, R-2800-8 -10 etc) working in neutral position (i.e. not working) at low altitude.
Is this true for the -32W or it aux.stage have direct drive as in Merlin?
