Well it certainly looks like two brainchildren of the same man!

What is interesting is that Aerofiles talks about the inventor as being "Jesse E. Langdon from Bell, California, while the Corbis photograph gives him as "Jesse D. Langdon" from California. But the initial of the middle name aside, I believe this is just one and the same guy.
