For a long time it was unknown if this had actually gone into service as it was never seen in any numbers and the examples that were seen in exercises had not received any of the marv upgrades.It wasnt until video of a previously unshown missile base was released that several launchers were seen at the base carrying the missile.

Yeah,but keep in mind that the shahab 3 went into service way back in the mid to late 90s & was superseded by the ghadr family starting in the early 2000s [1st public appearance 2004].
I had thought it was used purely just as a training round these days.
But its just the sort of weapon you`d want if you`re shooting missiles at a city size target to get your enemy to burn thru their limited stocks of abm interceptors.

It's not a Shahab 3 but a more accurate Emad. Note the "EM" on the body and the white paint. Ghadr is noted by a "G" followed by either an "H" or "F" depending on the type.

Iran has recently claimed/bragged to have missile guidance systems independent of GNSS; perhaps someone has some insight to what extent this actually is the case and where their systems originate (I can guess). In any case I wouldn't be surprised at all if spoofing techniques were a part of layered missile defenses provided they don't confound other aspects of it. Based on previous events (Stuxnet in particular) I presumed that the article would be about hacking Iran's missile program itself (again, would be surprised were this not to have happened, with the Algadhir base explosion in 2011 and all) but it's just as well. We're now seeing GNSS guidance systems routinely affected in Ukraine. The effects of spoofing may be somewhat difficult to parse from the general inaccuracy and high failure rate of Iran's ballistic missiles though.

A US special operations team has seized a shipment of military equipment heading to Iran from China.

The interdiction was aimed at stopping Tehran from rebuilding its ballistic missile arsenal, which was heavily depleted during its 12-day war with Israel in June, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The ship, which has not been publicly identified, was off the coast of Sri Lanka when it was boarded by US special operatives who confiscated its cargo, which an official said comprised dual-use components capable of use as conventional weapons.

Chinese companies often provide measurement devices to improve the precision of Iranian missiles, such as spectrometers and gyroscopes, according to Behnam Ben Taleblu, the Iran director at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

In regards to those underground missile/drone/aircraft storage sites if need be they can be penetrated and destroyed by GBU-57s.

If they need that big a weapon.

Otherwise the B2s can roll in and drop 16 BLU-109s on the bunkers.
