An all of the above approach is needed. France does it right-- it is neither "drill baby drill" nor a net-zero fantasy.

California is horrible--bunker oil is damn near asphalt, but Gavin's gulag puts poor motorists in a bind by going after them emissions wise and forces people to buy catalytic converters worth more than their work car.

Poor people have no one who speaks for them. One side doesn't believe in living wages, the others micromanage folks to death.

I have no problem with alternative energy--but enough with telling folks they can't have gas stoves.

... is an almost year old scene which was astroturfed "viral" in social media. It was promptly embellished with the now requisite notions about it "CRUSHING" and "DESTROYING" (all caps, of course) renewable energy. Slightly curious about how it surfaced here, (only?) now.

I was impressed, though, by the poignancy of a rattlesnake - a US revolutionary symbol of freedom, no less - being not only treaded on but unceremoniously and disdainfully beheaded by the protagonist. So in your face, on the nose, the Faustian bargain you supposedly can't refuse.

Meanwhile, those of us who can't buy Twitter ($45 billion) or Electronic Arts ($55 billion) just to try and control the entirety of this contemporary mainstream information environment ("television" and "movies" are somewhat vestigial forms of communication and media by now) are still doing our thing, so to say.

The ONLY solution is a multi faceted approach.

Neither on their own address the downsides of their use.

Rare earth minerals for one, are hugely damaging in extraction.

I went on one of these 'solutions' sites where you can compare the damage done to the eco system between your current vehicle and a new BEV. My 1970 VW estate car beat the EV hands down. I was not allowed to log back in a few hours later...........

Folks, we need to look beyond the first flush of ANY tech, a deep hard look at ALL pro's and con's.

Looking deeper gives us real solutions rather than sound bites and slaps on back and remember that the backers of BEV are after profit rather than ecology safety/security.

Money, talks and very loudly at that.
