The backside reads "Vater von Henry Berliner", so father of Henry Berliner, professor Emile Berliner... so Berliner Joyce precursor?
Further it says Partner of Thomas Edison and Hanover Dreizold. The picture was sent to Henry Berliner on this still existing address: https://goo.gl/maps/vPrkgCNcdETKyDwH9
I think this is hard to say what time it is . Helicopters were pioneered earlier than horizontal flight in those days as the logic to fly was vertical first and not horizontal. The blades do look advanced and I can't figure out what the louvre blades are doing. Surely not rotating so they must be guide vanes.
