Forum Anniversary - 20 years old!

Well done to Paul and the team of Mods over the years.

In this day and age its incredibly rare to find an 'old school' forum that actually works, has exceptionally very well informed posters, doesn't get over-run with bots, ads and all the other internet flotsam. Basically SPF is one of the last bastions of how good the internet used to be...

I think we all underestimate how much work it takes to keep such a thing alive...but its very much appreciated/

It appears to be alive and kicking ... I go there most days. There is an engaged community, and people seem to be well-behaved. I still miss the old warshipprojects site though...
 
So, forum-wise, what were the biggest crises in this sites history?

The Great Photobucket Deletion? NTRS troubles? Ransomware/Paywalls? ITAR?

Security can be the enemy of innovation.

Elon's rise following 9/11, and current conflicts might be the greatest external stories---but in terms of keeping aerospace archives alive, libricide should be threat number one...both inside and outside in that it makes it hard to preserve the work of many individuals who have advanced humanity more than celebrities who are better known.

So many have been forgotten and lost to history.
 
Twenty years... I've been here for 19½ of them. Back then I was an undergraduate, now I've worked on several projects that have their own threads, and have managed people who weren't in school back then.

I'm not old, so clearly the forum is still young.
 
I joined the site in September 2006 but had visited earlier after being a regular on what if modelers pursuing photos of models to get made for me from various sources

Thank you Paul and the mods who have put up with me all these years but especially to everyone here who come up with info found nowhere else.
 
It was really cool to have this forum - the other places were Keymodellers, ACIG, and Above Top Secret... the overall quality of this forum in terms of amassing information has been astounding. The founders and moderators should be proud - as should those who have contributed over the years. It is basically the Library of Alexandria for this particular type of aviation history.

Many thanks to Paul and the staff for keeping SPF up and running for over 20 years now, and many thanks as well to a whole bunch of knowledgeable members for having made this forum such an excellent place to visit.
