F-16AJ / F-16BJ: Japanese F-16 proposal

First Post here, searched the forum for the above terms and couldn't find anything, hopefully not mistaken!

Quite a fan of the F16, versatile platform that has seen countless developments over the years. When I saw this thought I had to share it here.

Some notable differences to the American variants at the time (presumably the block 15 is its closest counterpart) include the ability to mount AIM-7Fs. Won't list them all here though, I'll let you enjoy reading.

So checked the history and the F-16 was competing with the F-14 and F-15 for Japan's F-X contest in 1975/1976. This proposal presumably dates from then.

I believe this was basically the program that lead to the F-15J if I’m not mistaken. The use of AIM-7F was basically because of the main issue was of course air defense. Apparently giving the F-16a sparrow capability is fairly straightforward and could have been done from the start according to the fellows at F-16.net. If I recall though the underfusalage arrangement had some issues with exhaust.
