There are so many preserved navy ships, you can't keep them all. I would have loved to see a preservation of the United States, which would have also preserved a historic military propulsion system.A disgraceful act of vandalism! It should've been preserved as a museum-ship or failing that sunk as an artificial-reef.

They tried, but the organization of veterans from USS United States couldn't raise enough funding.There are so many preserved navy ships, you can't keep them all. I would have loved to see a preservation of the United States, which would have also preserved a historic military propulsion system.
It did get us a whole lot of data on how ships get damaged and survive said damage.

The SS United States is scheduled to sunk as an artificial-reef IIRC.
