a Delta wing with 14 ft or 4 meter wingspan and tail unit of 2 meter high !?
sounds more like a drone or testvehicle than a manned aircraft

sounds like another artist's fantasy

IMHO it is the author's fantasy drawing of the Dassault M.D.550 Mirage I (or its wind tunnel model) , which was flying test flights in 1956.
That PopMech article was published in May 1956.

The author might have also mixed up meters and feet.
France has the metric system. ;)

I agree with this. A not-very-good guess as to what the Mirage I looked like...

It seems to have simple fixed outriggers, a central skid and no cockpit, so it probably
was intended for free flight. I would suppose the dimensions as correct and the whole
thing as a subscale flying model, maybe for the development of the delta wing.

The drawing concept is clearly inspired by both Payen's delta designs mixed up with Lippisch's works.
Just fantasy, I agree.

i Found something about this
in the book "La SNECMA, von Zborowski et le Coleoptere" by Jean-Christophe Carbonel.
on page 35 is a three side view of this Aircraft !
the caption text on it is intriguing:

When project is not a project ?
This delta-wing fighter is not a SNECMA project but a comparative design used to demostrate how advanced the the [SNECMA]Coléoptère is over existing concept

the date on three side view is May 1952
wingspan is 6 meter, fuselage is 10,6 meter long
takeoff weight 9240 kg (2200 kg fuel) with one ATAR 101 M14 engine
is this a "Paper" Fighter for reference purpose, designed by Dassault on commission by SNECMA or Not ?

Just seen, thank you my dear Michel for your respond.
