TEST pilot Stuart Carswell took part in several top secret trials with the Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment. He was killed doing so while flying Wellington NA 929 ON OCTOBER 17 1945. I have a brief reference that he flew Barracuda MX613 on October 9 1944 to drop experimental mines. He found this a 'dangerous' trial but I do not know why, or if the Barracuda was dangerous . Barracuda MX613 was also used for airborne lifeboat trials which is well documented. Does anyone have information on MX613 as used by MAEE particularly about the incident mentioned? picture MX613 on airborne lifeboat trials.
