Hi,
The specification was officially issued in March 1937 and various designs were put forward to the
Direzione Generale delle Costruzioni ed Approvvigionamenti (General Direction for Aircraft Construction
and Supply) of the Regia Aeronautica. The list included Caproni Ca.124, Caproni-Reggiane Ca.410 Idro
(floatplane), Macchi MC.203, Piaggio P.32 Idro and P.110, I.M.A.M. Ro.55, C.R.D.A. Cant.Z.510 (a twin
engined version of the Cant Z.506 Airone trimotor), FIAT C.M.A.S.A. RS.14. Later, Cantieri Riuniti
dell'Adriatico proposed a completely new floatplane: the Cant.Z.514.
