Boeing Model-431 Medium Transport Project

Thanks you my dear Skyblazer,

but they are very close designs, what is the main different ?.

The Model 417-42 was to be powered with two 1070 hp Wright 744-4BA-1 engines.

The Model 431-16 was to be powered with two 2100 hp P&W Double Wasp engines.
The Model 431-17 was to be powered with two 1200 hp Wright Cyclone engines.

Judging from the pictures at my disposal, the Model 417 had rectangular windows, while the Model 431 had round ones.

Some variants of the Model 417 had the empennage in a lower position, some had it higher like on the Model 431.

Most pictures of the 417 show a shorter fuselage with less room for cargo.

The Model 431 looks a little more refined especially with regards to the wings (longer and narrower, rounded off tips, etc.)

So, all in all, I'd say the Model 431 was a more powerful, refined Model 417 with more payload.

As a found ,there should be an other (more clear) illustration, with some text
about this model 431, in an issue of

Aviation / Aviation Week - December 1945.
(I dont know what week)

Is there anyone who haves this article..?

Thanks in advance.

Whilst looking at the above post number 4 regarding the Boeing Model 417-42, I checked in the Putnam Boeing book, and in there it stated the powerplants were to be Wright 7BA-1 Cyclone powerplants of only 800 hp, not what was posted. Anyone any idea which is right powerplant? (no pun intended!!)
