In mid-1961, Canada's Avro Aircraft signed a cooperation agreement with Ingersoll Kalamazoo, a division of Borg-Warner Corporation, an American firm active in various sectors. They thus pooled their knowledge in the field of air cushion vehicles, on the one hand, and landing craft and amphibious vehicles, on the other. The two firms were quick to submit to the United States Navy's Office of Naval Research a project for an amphibious air cushion vehicle capable of transporting materiel and / or troops. These efforts led nowhere.

I have a feeling the vehicle below is an artistic rendition of what Avro Aircraft and Ingersoll Kalamazoo were working on.

Does someone have information on this vehicle which, now that I think about it, might belong in the naval area of this website?

Would this have been a 'complement' to the Overlander road train for the 'Early Warning' stations ??

At least a hovercraft would have no problem with bogs and mud and such...
