Between Starlink, these things, space-funding cuts and hostile Hawaiians, you have to be a masochist to be astronomer these days.

It depends on the astronomy you want to study: i.e. solar, UV, neutrino, X-, gamma- and cosmic-rays, gravitational-wave astronomy are (still) unaffected by human activities in orbit. In fact some of them are only possible with satellites.
But for radio and (ground-based) optical astronomy the spreading of LEO communication satellites is a real mess.
