    Shorts Starstreak Missile

Also claims of another kill by Starstreak on an Orion UAV (the Russian equivalent of Predator). Not sure on this...Orion should be up pretty high...but the wreckage is definitely from one. Can't post the tweet from The Dead District feed (post 1092) because the preceding post which appears here...

    The silliest unbuilt project

An SSBN could have a couple hundred nukes and everybody seems to be okay with that. A B1-B could have had dozens. As for Orion, there are many people who would be afraid to go into space. That doesn't make going into space, "silly".

    NASA Space Launch System (SLS)

Thanks for the links Michel Van, I am actually surprised that NASA are even considering making EM-1 a manned flight, a lot of things could go wrong on a first flight.

Pax Orionis Prelude: The Cuban War

...his story? The US got some nuclear wastelands out of the Cuban war. Under the conditions he describes, i think it's plausible that Project Orion was pursued. Thanks OBB, i enjoyed the read. I hope your next release will be about the 84 War with some Project Orion bombers in operational...

Which projects would have generated maximum controversy it produced?

Orion "battleships" would be my first choice. Project Pluto the second.

    Proxima Centauri

My bad, must have confused with something else. I think the confusion come from Wikipedia (how surprising !) - which mentions a "momentum limited Orion" (see attached) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Orion_(nuclear_propulsion) So, can than Limited Momentum Orion achieve this performance ?

    Project Orion / Project Daedalus

Chemical explosives are real losers as far as giving space craft kenetic energy. They give out comparative little energy over all (low energy) compare to equivalent weight of cryogenic fuel. They only look spectacular because they give out their little energy in very rapid bursts (high power).

    Orion Splash tests

Various press reports state that the 7th splash test was conducted on 1 December 2011. I have tried to determine the dates of the first six test from other press reports: #1: 12 July 2011 (confirmed) #2: 21 July 2011 (flight number not confirmed) #3: 2 August 2011 (flight number not...

    Project Orion / Project Daedalus

Folks, after watching Hazegrayart video too many times (Orion interstellar ark) I think the solution to lift Orion away from Earth is... a big cluster of Aerojet 260 inch SRBs. A four stages, all solid monster rocket. In the early days of Apollo was a concept for an all-solid Nova; imagine that...

Research sheds new light on intelligent life existing across the galaxy

Dunno why. Orion is a fantastic way for getting around a solar system. It stinks on ice for interstellar travel, but then Viking longboats are no damn good for getting to the moon. Gotta start somewhere.
