any news on the German hypersonic program ? According to this article:
a subsidiary of MBDA managed to launch a missile which could reach mach 7 (8.644 km/h ~ 2.4 m/s) back in 2003. Recent news indicate they are designing hypersonic anti-tank weapon, which seems a bit pointless imo...They also mentioned another hypersonic missile to be used with the new air defense system (TLVS I think ?)
 
The University of Queensland has done a lot of excellent work on scramjets since the 90's at least. I remember reading about them nearly twenty years ago.

Well, since jingoistic China is presently threatening Australia with missiles (including hypersonic ones) - I would say, high time to put all that scramjet work to good use !

Imagine the headlines "Thanks to University of Queensland, Australia beats China at its own game: hypersonic long range missiles."
