Neat idea. But it has a flaw. Designed properly:
1) It would *not* drop the wings.
2) After rescuing people, it would release a weather balloon on a strong cable.
3) A C-130 or the like would come along, snag the cable (as in the fulton surface to air recovery system), and tow the glider back into the air.
4) ...
5) Profit!
