Everybody probably knows the story of the Charles Babbage Difference Engines, and how the second version was finally realized in 2002. While an impressive beast, it turned out to be hard to explain everything due to the way the machinery fits together, so a smaller demonstration machine was built (Using modern techniques and materials.) and in honor of the possibly apocryphal remark attributed to Babbage about doing the calculations by steam, it was made to be steam powered. This short video shows the resulting machine in operation. It almost makes one wish they had made a full sized version...
