Looking for books that are essentially a encyclopedia of a single manufacturer's designs.

I'm looking for books that are exhaustive collections of all the aircraft designs of a specific manufacturer with at least basic descriptions of the aircraft. A good example would be Northrop: Flying Wings and Stranger Things. The book had pretty much every design ever done by Northrup up till its merger with Grumman. With many getting at least a basic workup and those that did not being listed with a basic description in a complete list of all projects that received a number designation by the company at the back.

Quite old now, possibly overtaken by newer books, only available second hand - but I love them:
Putnam Aeronautical books.

Midland did five books on Soviet OKBs
- OKB Mikoyan by Butowski and Miller
- OKB Sukhoi by Antonov, Gordyukov, Yakovlev, Zenkin, Carruth and Miller
- OKB Yakovlev by Gordon, Komissarov and Komissarov
- OKB Tupolev by Gordon and Rigmant
- OKB Ilyushin by Gordon, Komissarov and Komissarov

yea I have all those however they don't include any design studies or paper projects which can leave gaps in design lineage and have you miss out on some more interesting ideas.

not sure what your getting at, I can see that your linking to a magazine but im not sure to what end as im talking about specific books.

Probably what they had in mind was issues on specific manufacturers. Some examples:

Les avions Breguet, 1940-1971 by Jean Cuny & Pierre Leyvastre, 1977
Les avions Dewoitine by Raymond Danel, 1982
Émile Dewoitine by Raymond Danel, 1982
Les avions Farman by Jean Liron, 1984
Les avions Bernard by Jean Liron, 1990
Latécoère, les avions et hydravions by Jean Cuny, 1992
Nieuport 1909-1950 by Léonard Rosenthal, 1997
Les avions Caudron-Renault by Édouard Mihaly & Harry Robinson, 2001

There have also been a few foreign manufacturers covered by Docavia, eg:

Les avions Grumman 1929-1989 by Bernard Millot & Stéphane Nicolaou, 1993
Les avions Vought by Bernard Millot, 1983

Most of the French Docavia books are long out of print and only available at high prices from used book sources like ABEbooks and Amazon.

The French site Editions Lariviere does have a few left at sale prices and they can be found here (This link is different from the above in that it takes you directly to the available books for sale) :

The German publisher Bernard & Graefe has a series Die Deutsche Luftfahrt
- One book in the series covers Arado.
- Another deals with aviation in the DDR
Others deal with important persons in German aeronautical history, which in some cases gives a pretty comprehensive picture of the companies they were involved with.
- Willy Messerschmitt
- Kurt Tank
- Ernst Heinkel
- Hugo Junkers
- Ludwig Bölkow
- Edmund Rumpler

All of them are a bit light on unbuilt projects, but if you want insight into the companies' history and what the companies built, they are very good.

If you are mainly interested in unbuilt projects, Midland and Crécy/Hikoki offer specialist books. Some out of print titles are on offer at extortionate prices.
www.bookfinder.com combines results from abebooks, alibris and possibly some others.

Morane-Saulnier - ses avions, ses projets by Henri Lacaze and Claude Lherbet, Lela Presse 2013
Lioré et Olivier - un grand constructeur aéronautique by Gérard Hartmann, ETAI 2002
Pierre Levasseur & ses avions by Arnaud Prudhomme, Éditions TMA 2002

Again, light on projects, but unbeatable as a window on what the companies built.

An example of what you would need to get an overview of all things Supermarine:
Supermarine Aircraft since 1914 by CF Andrews and EB Morgan, Putnam 1987 (US edition by Naval Institute Press) - covers what was actually built
Supermarine Secret Projects Vol.1 & Vol.2 by Ralph Pegram, bookazines from Mortons books
Beyond the Spitfire - The Unseen Designs of R J Mitchell by Ralph Pegram, The History Press 2016
