As some of you may have noticed, last Friday I took photos of some articles
in older magazines, e.g. the one about the Delanne type. At first I thought, I
had missed some pages, but now I realised, that on the storage card of my camera,
there are a number of photos, that seem to be ok, if I just look at the files (name, type,
filesize) but which don't show up in any viewer (ACDSee, IView, Corel Photopaint or Photoshop).
Sometimes I at least get a thumbnail, but cannot open the file.
Any clue for retrieving those photos ? ???

Obviously you should try a photo-recovery software. I have never experienced this problem so I can't recommend you an specific application but I'll do a bit of research. Which is your operative system, Apple or Microsoft?

I've tried on my PC (Windows) two of them (Recuva, PC-Inspector-Smart-Recovery), but
as the files actually are there and not deleted, without success. Googling brought me the
result, that the reason probably is a damaged storage card and that I could try a professional
data rescue service. But that's quite expensive and as long as I don't find a cheaper solution,
the best is to visit the library once again (with TWO storage cards then ! )

Ok

for the record then, I found this software that seems useful. Both for Apple and Microsoft OS.

My Lexar cards came with ImageRescue2 and my Sandisk cards came with their version of recovery SW, both work well. Before that I use PCI File Recovery, http://download.cnet.com/PC-Inspector-File-Recovery/3000-2248_4-10118664.html
