Augustine’s Law: Are We Really Headed for the $800 Billion-Dollar Fighter?

Looking at the TASC chart on page 12, it appears that increase in performance from generations is almost exactly matched by increase in cost! "There is no gain from tech!"

Perhaps the cranks with ideas like no-radar gun fighters and likes were half right. o_O

Maybe it's a positive sign, we might price ourselves out of war. Just put all the leaders of the protagonist in a ring with a baseball bat a let them have at each other, the one left standing is the winner. That would be something I'd pay to view.

I believe we would have a sudden reduction is stress levels worldwide. Sending others off to do the dirty is one thing, getting their hands and faces bloody, something else entirely.

As if F-35 is not already crammed with new airframe and engine technology, it is also crammed with a new generation of avionics that can absorb far more data than a single pilot can comprehend. F-35 is supposed to "share" all that data with rear-echelon headquarters and "loyal wingmen" drones.
All that electronic capacity vastly drives up the cost of F-35.

That "info-centric" concept is driving up the cost of all types of weapons systems.

In a worst case scenario, a lone infantryman lies shivering in a mud puddle, while aiming his sights at an elusive single adversary. Meanwhile, 14 different staff officers are yammering in his ear!!!!!!!!!!

What makes you think this is not happening right now? Or in the past? Something the military are never short of, know it all staff officers......

We REALLY need a tongue firmly in cheek meme.......
