Inside back cover of Steve Ginter's "Air Force Legends 201: The Martin XB-51" by Scott Libis has these pictures and a small explantion (no project reference). Most likely where the strange mechanoids scanned the image from.
 
These have been around for quite a long time actually. I have a 1980s issue of Aviation Quarterly somewhere in my vault with the same images.
 
Ok, ok, but what about the gorgeous hydo-ski and hydro-sled versions ? B)

It's a nice-looking concept, but I have to wonder what becomes of the rotary bomb bay in that case.

Martin's rotary bomb bay could be made watertight by adding inflatable seals, as in the SeaMaster. The design worked quite well.
