And just to prove that Boeing doesn't have a lock on BWB - here is a design by DLR, the German Aerospace Centre

I'm curious. Boeing has gone as far testing the real-life flight characteristics of the BWB with a one-sixth scale technology demonstrator and has already articulated plans to build a full-size BWB prototype, but the Europeans haven't yet built a prototype to test the flight characteristics of the BWB concepts. Why haven't the Europeans put a bit of money into building an X-48 type technology demonstrator to prove that the BWB works?

BWB seems to be not really interesting for carriers, so, why prove it ?

Because not every aircraft takes off from or lands on a carrier?

Carrier as in airline

Thanks for the clarification, assuming that's what Jemiba was really referring to. But then again, why would European aerospace research necessarily have to be strictly limited to airliner applications? Lampyridae for example comes to mind, and France still has an airborne Force de Dissuasion...
