Various Post-War Yakovlev (Yak) Projects & Prototypes

As I know there was two Yak-U variants,

the first had twin engined and the second gad single engine.
 
Really? This I did not know.
Are there any illustrations or descriptions regarding the design?

very strange,you feel there was early drawing to Yak-60 and later one was different ?.

Yak-25 “Burlaki” for the concept of a parasite fighter. Was planned to be hooked to a Tu-4, but problems like an unpressurized cockpit while the engine was off killed the idea.

From Flying 1950-6,

I can't ID this Yak Project exactly,maybe it looks like Yak-60 ?,could be
anther thing,MiG design for example ?,but why they insisted it was
developed from DFS-346 !.

Also possible it is just a hypothetical concept ?.

I hope, that this small pictures from Polish magazine "Lotnictwo" 2015-06 could be a good teaser to Wiktor Druszlakov article about little-known Yakovlev fighter projects.
Types, mentioned: Yak-29, -30; Yak-40, -41; Yak-60; Yak-50.


The images was absolutely new to me! ;)

Yak-29 there seems very similar to one of the PVRD Ramjet Project Designs.

That same design is on the cover of Popular Science magazine from January 1951, I think it is in the discussion of Western artists concepts of Soviet Aircraft. IIRC it is marked Yak-25. I think it is an artist concept of what was ultimately the MiG-15.

Be aware that the information on this page is slightly incorrect as the aircraft referred to in the text in French references the Yak-36 VTOL prototype, yet the illustrations are for the Yak-36-70 light strike concept based around the same engine configuration as the Yak-36. In the text, the engine is stated as "a vertically mounted fixed engine, rotary nozzles and a conventional fuselage", which is not strictly correct, as the Yak-36 had two horizontally mounted R21M-300 engines with vectoring thrust nozzles and no vertically mounted jet-lift engines. One of the prototypes survives at Monino and, in common with other aircraft there, it is depicted in a scheme that was not worn by the type at all during testing and resembles the in-service scheme applied to Yak-38s.

The Yak-36-70 was drawn up in a couple of different variants, the light strike variant and a light fighter variant, both of which resembled each other. I have seen a photo of the heavy cruiser Kiev with models of these on the flight deck, instead of the Yak-38s that it went on to receive. The Yak-38 differed in that the engine configuration was changed completely and a single engine was mounted horizontally in the fuselage fitted with vectoring thrust nozzles, and two vertically mounted jet-lift engines aft of the cockpit. Oddly, the pre-production prototypes of the Yak-38 were designated Yak-36M, even though their configuration was different to the Yak-36 testbed and the Yak-36-70 concept.

Excuse the photo, I took it during a rainsoaked visit to Monino years ago and I wrote on the back of the prints to identify them.
