USAF is running a competition to name the new KC-45 tanker. Unfortunately its only open to AF employees and not the general public. Here's a few suggestions. Additions welcome ;)

How about the "KC-Cancel-Me?"

Personally, I think that this program is a very likely candidate for a bi-partisan cancellation effort. Even Flight Global is speculating that the contract was won by flagrant underbidding, so the inevitable cost overruns are certain to maintain the controversy surrounding this program. Add in the choice of an assembly site in a Republican state during a years of sweeping Democratic election gains, growing protectionism, and the ongoing WTO proceedings against Airbus, not to mention the inevitable budget pressure from the ongoing economic crisis and it looks as if the KC-45 is doomed from the start.

It's obvious that USAF was caught between two very bad choices. After the Boeing scandal, it was obvious that "buying American" had a political downside, while it was always inevitable that the selection of an Airbus would upset the unions, especially in a Presidential election year where anti-free trade sentiments are running high. In hindsight, the original 767 deal only involved the waste of about $6 billion, which seems like a mere drop in the bucket compared to the KC-45.
