Unidentified US Fighter

It’s not easy to identify all project models. Indeed, they occasionally represent the only surviving record of a particular design. This dramatic, clearly highly supersonic, fighter is believed to be a North American Aviation proposal dating from the mid-late ‘50s.

Tony Buttler couldn't definitively identify this design. Anyone out there know more?

Intakes look very Republic. A Fairchild Republic FX associated design attached for comparison.

My dear Paul,

maybe early NA for LRI or WS-202A Proposal, the D264 ?.

That's a puzzler.

At least of interest to the US Marines, with boxy versions of a traditional Republic intake, and curious cylindrical sections flanking the rear engine nozzle.

The Ferri intakes did feature on the Avro TSR-2 submission - so someone playing with them around the same timeframe, but applying them with aspects of their own designs. Would be a fit for NA.

Cylindrical sections - some kind of ejector? VTOL? Or ramjets like in the Hawker p1134?

We really need more views of this model.
