Found this photograph of a lighter than air rotorcraft whilst browsing Glasgow University archives. Unfortunately theres no indication of its manufacturer, im assuming its circa 1940's could be Weir ? Denny ? Blackburn ?, the only marking on the photograph being the printer, Bryan & Shear, Glasgow, neg. 81692/1

Re: Weir ? lighter than air rotorcraft

Very interesting Joe,

Airlander's grandpa?

If...we assume the rotor diameter is 50ft (believed to be the maximum possible diameter just after WW2, although this could be a prewar design) that beast's envelope must be around 150ft long.

Is that a ship's hull model in the background? A yacht?

Thanks

Chris

i found something:

There is/was a Bryan & Shear Ltd. for Commercial Photography in Glasgow around 1974
I look on Google street view, on 1974 address, sadly no more there...
