Thank you my friend, very interesting. It was only natural that aerodynamicist regardless of east or west would be heading in the same direction. Shattered window planes and restricted flight routes are not the way to go and definitely the death knell for any commercial supersonic airliner.

Tupolev is said to have declared that they did not have sonic boom problems in USSR: population density was low and phones did not work. US in 1960-s had Oklahoma City boom experiment and Valkyrie test flight. I suppose that if Tu-144 were perceived to be safe and comfortable, the political will and ability to make people put up with the sound of regular Tu-144 booms would not have been a problem.

From my very early childhood I remember Mig-21 flying forth and back near 315 meters high meteorological tower in the center of my hometown of Obninsk (well, may be that was the thing that brought the lifetime interest to the subject). If memory serves well, it was not your usual MiG-21, at was MiG-21 'Analog' with Tu-144-type double delta wing. Again, at the bottom of the memory something reminds me that it was somehow related to sonic boom / noise disruption research. So we had our own Operation Bongo as well..

OKB TUPOLEV(Yefim Gordon and Vladimir Rigmant) says that "One of the first Tu-244 projects was the 1973 project....larger, higher aspect ratio wings. The latter featured leading-edge slats extended for flight at subsonic speeds. Separated engine housings with axisymmetrical air intakes were mounted behind the line of maximum wing thickness, and the wing surface was optimised to take into account the emgine fairings."

I think this wing shape looks like L-2000 wing shape.

I also think that this three side view drawing shows Tu-244 design in 1973.

Top three side view drawing shows 1990s Tu-244 design with cranked-delta wing and without drooping visor nose.

Bottom three side view drawings shows a different project configuration with canard foreplanes and smaller wings featuring a cranked trailing edge.(OKB TUPOLEV)
