Surprisingly, the drawings refer to a "AL-32F" engine.

I had thought that the R-79 derived VK-21 was the "definitive" powerplant for all Russian paper SSBJ studies?

I am also confused by the Concorde style nose. Why cling to such an anachronistic feature when a simple CCTV setup can solve runway visibility issues?

To solve the problem with visibility is important, because Tu-444 will land more like fighter with higher angle. But I agree that CCTV is simplier and has lower weight than moving nose. Maybe the answer is - the cooperation with CAGI.

Edit: Just found it in article - only prototype will have moving nose. Production machines will use compact fuselage.

Are there not FAA/JAA certification requirements regarding cockpit visibility? I seem to recall that was something that drove a redesign of the nose section of the proposed Aerion SSBJ.
