Back in the early 60s children like me could build harbours with realistic metal models of liners and warships made by Triang Minic in 1/1200 scale.
The toys stopped being produced in 1964. I hit upon the idea of what would Triang have done with the artists impressions of CVA 01 and the early version of the Type 82 in 1966.
A skilled modelmaker friend of mine agreed to make them using Shapeways printed models as a basis. After much painstaking work he delivered them

When my father was on a business trip to the UK in the early 60s, he stopped in at Hamley's in London and bought my brother and I Tri-ang models of the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary, and SS United States. That was the golden age of English toy-making! (Hamley's is still there but everything is plastic).

Wow! Seriously impressive. I have a Shapeways CVA 01, which I have modified to full hull, and I also have a Skytrex Type 82, which I have also modified to full hull and have fitted with Type 998 "Broomstick" radar
