I saw The Avengers in a midnight preview last tuesday, and there was at least one strange bird aboard the helicarrier.
Finally found a pic partially showing it. One tip, it's on the right:

from left to right it looks like.
a Harrier, two scifi dropship things, and an Alpha Jet?

A few things I noticed:
1. Why the oldschool Jets and no F-22s or F-35s?
2. The upper supports on those lift fans seem VERY fragile.
3. Why the cargo boxes on the flight deck?

Spudam in movies in the future the answer to question #2 is always 'nanotechnology'

Speaking of nanotech, it's coming to the F-35 this year.

Oh, don't worry, they throw plenty of F35's at the Hulk ;D
And, idd, there's a shedload of Alpha Jets on display. I was a bit weirded out by that at first ... No wait, i'm still weirded out.
Still, a very entertaining movie.

Taking off directly over one of the lift fans? What's that going to be like?

actually it looks like the planes would still launch from the bow as usual. hough any plane coming in for a landing and missing the wires would have a hairy time clearing those lift fans the way the deck is oriented.

i watch the movie twice successively !

and yes next to harrier, VTOL drop ships, Hulk's toy F-35, they have Alpha Jets
durring Helicarrier take off , i wonder why are those liftfans not aspirate everything from flightdeck ?
but that's Marvel/Hollywood realm of logic

by the way
go see this movie

I don't want to sound dirty, but did you enjoy the Hulk as much as I did? ;)

And yes, go see this movie.

Geeking. Out.

Also, why the emphasis on the carrier with hull number 42? Yet another geek Easter egg?

Hello,
Just for reference, in the post movie credits it is mentioned that alpha jets were provided by Air USA:

(I wanted to post the older — and funnier — TV version but the excerpt online was just too long...)
