I found some time ago this unbuilt airliner from sukhoi in "True Supersonics", a russian webpabe. It was to be Russia´s equivalent to A380 and B-747-400. I could only find images of the model, but no drawings. Any more info?

In a few words, it was dead end from the beginning

Models of the Sukhoi KR-860 for Kryl'ya Rossii or "Wings of Russia", earlier designated the SKD-717.

The project had a design maximum weight of about 650 tonnes, a payload of about 300 tonnes, and was intended to be capable of carrying 860 to 1000 passengers. For comparison the Antonov An-225 has a maximum weight of 600 tonnes and a payload is 250 tonnes. A 1/24 scale model was shown at the 1999 Paris Air Show. If it had been built the aircraft would have been the world's largest airliner.[6]

The concept for the aircraft began in the 1990s with a forecast program cost of US$10 billion (early published figures were US$4-5.5B) and called for the first aircraft to be built before 2000. With an estimated price per unit of about US$160-200 million (an earlier published estimate was US$150M) the market was forecast for a total of 300 aircraft, with production planned for the Kazan Aircraft Production Association facility. Initially designed for the carriage of passengers, later reports indicated it could have been redesigned as a cargo aircraft.

The project never proceeded beyond the stage of marketing models and no KR-860s were built

The folding wings are probably there so it will fit at a standard gate (if there is such a thing). I remember the Boeing 777 was being offered with folding wingtips so it would fit at most gates, but nobody ordered that particular option.

Judging from the excellent side view - thanks Jemiba - and the models, the KR-860 would have been a very fine-looking & quite graceful giant, more attractive than the Airbus A380. It is a great shame that it has not been built. Anyone know of a good quality 3-view?

I agree. It looks different from most airliners, in a nice and elegant way... It would have been refreshing to see it in airports.

I'm pretty sure, somewhere on the net, there already is a 3-view, but it seems, it still is
hidden very well, so here's my attempt. It's based mainly on the side view and length and
span data. About the main gear legs I'm not quite sure, my interpretation is, that the main
units rotate through 90° during retraction, criticisms and clues welcome !

Nice ! Thanks a lot. I hope I'll be able to do as nice as you did here someday... ;)

Wow, Jemiba, excellent. I am always amazed by what you find, or, even more so, by what you create. Well done, and huge thanks. And I just ordered a copy of Jane's "All the World's Aircraft" 2001 - 2002 in the hopes it might contain a 3-view of it. But this is much better.
