Hi all,

found this 3view of the Sukhoi I-135. My question: is this a forrunner of the Su-1/I-330 or is I-135 an other designation of the Su-1?

Thanks Maveric

It was the outline sketch of a fighter Su-1 which had first index I-135. Then planes began to designate the first letters of surnames of designers and I-135 began to have an index of Su-1 "the order № 330"

Several other iterations of the project Su-1, -3

In pre-war times, the Sukhoi OKB was based at Zavod No.135 in Kharkov, Ukraine. Therefore a fighter designed here was designated "Zavod 135 fighter" - I-135. In the same way many other contemporary aircraft were designated: Lavochkin/Gorbunov/Gudkov I-301 (which became LaGG-1 and then LaGG-3), Pashinin I-21 (or IP-21), Borovkov/Florov I-207, etc. In December 1940, when the new designation system was inserted, the I-135 became Sukhoi Su-1.

The often mentioned designation "I-330" is probably incorrect: "330" was only the purchase order number.

I found Su-1 three side view drawing and Su-1/Su-3 picture without turbocharger. ???
