Found this notecard in the collection of the Hubschraubermuseum Bückeburg.

Does anybody know something on the Saficopter?

The handwritten words 'Boulet S. 195' could be a hint to the author of a helicopter book ... (S. = Seite = page)

Re: Saficopter

My dear Boxkite,

we can search on old books about Helicopters,or encyclopedias ,but certainly you will
find it in Jane's All the World's Aircraft 1945 or 1946 ?.

Re: Saficopter

Hi boxkite :D
This is what I got on the Saficopter. Hope it helps.

single-seat helicopter
one 40hp Continental A40 piston engine
estimated max. speed 85 mph, cruise 65 mph, range 220 miles
rotor diameter 25ft
DETAILS: The Safti-Copter X502 light helicopter with contra-rotating rotors was designed in the USA by Mr. Leonard E. Mueller. Emphasis in the design was on an easy construction and economic operation. A prototype aircraft was completed in 1945 or 1946 and this had one 40hp Continental A40 engine. Possibly the aircraft was not flight tested. A larger 2-seat version, with one 90hp engine, was not built. Development of the X502 was soon halted.
Production: 1

Re: Saficopter

A small typo in the caption laid a false trail. Thanks for correction, walter :) .

Does the German word Blattjet imply a tipjet layout?

The photo caption is the same in the English version of the book (same page number): http://www.amazon.com/History-Helicopter-told-pioneers-1907-1956/dp/B001IY7OVU
