So who was he ?

A veteran from Dassault. He had met Charles Lindbergh in May 1963 in Mérignac. At the time Lindbergh was Pan Am ambassador and he had come to Mérignac to watch the maiden flight of the Falcon 20, Dassault first business jet. Pan Am was interested in and took 40 of them.

Many decades later in the 90's René Lemaire created the Mérignac Air Base / Dassault museum, the CAEA - Conservatoire de l'Air et de l'Espace d'Aquitaine. The association has amassed an impressive collection of aircraft with the hope - now well on track for 2022 - to open a museum. Unfortunately he didn't lived to see it.

I've been a member of the association and got the honor of crossing his path from times to times.

He will be missed.
