Does anyone here have details on NACA Langley engineer John Stack's 2,300hp Rolls-Royce powered concept pre-dating the X-1? He estimated 566mph for this hypothetical design from what I am reading.

It might pre-date US entry into WW2.

Hi,

also here is a hypothetical aircraft by John Stack of 1933,for high speed design.

This jake's jeep looks like a Convair XP-82. And the story told in the website linked seems to be questionable.

Yes, I mean the XP-92 from MX813 (1946). Please see T. Buttler Early US Jet Fighters page 83 to 85 for a quick reference.
I'm not talking about the mixed-propulsion XP-81.

Please follow this link from Matej to see the XP-92 ( next to an early XF-92 concept and the XF-92 prototype)

Jake's Jeep configuration remembered me the XP-92 configuration in a much "primitive looking"

My dears,

we must also don't forget Wahubna title mentioned piston, and I think he meant a piston
engine ?.

The 'Jeep' nickname for the thermojet (Campini type) was powered by a piston engine
drivin' the ducted fan and a turbo compressor...

The aircraft itself was only designed to investigate the propulsion method
