Hi and Happy Easter, dear folks! :)

Easter Holidays are a good time to do some spring-cleaning. A few years ago while studying at the university;
I looked up some issues of older aviation magazines.
All monthly issues were binded to a yearly book, which was quite heavy and unhandy.
Therefore, I used an overhead-scanner at the university to scan some articles and pictures. However, the quality is not the best.
So lets get back to topic.

The German magazine Flug-Revue and Flugwelt first published a study of a German STOL multirole and counterinsurgency aircraft project
called “Pneuma-Technik LA 172 and LA 272” in June 1975.
At that time, Pneuma-Technik was known in the aviation industry.
Reinhold Ficht and the engineers Jack Buckley and Robert Rossmeisl led this project.
This team also worked together on the Messerschmitt Me 108 F “Taifun”.
The letter “F” stands for the surname “Ficht”.

The LA 172 is a light, twin powered STOL multi-role aircraft.

Three requirements determine this design:
• easy loading capacity, airdrop possibility of bulky loads
• Take-off and landing with a full payload in difficult unprepared terrain
• simple and robust construction for low maintenance requirements

The cabin is 6.1 m² large. The wing has a wingspan of 15m and four hard points for 250l tank pods
Two Lycoming IO-5400-K1 boxer engines with 300hp power both aircrafts.

The LA 272 is a light, twin powered STOL counterinsurgency aircraft designed out of the LA 172.
The fuselage is smaller and wingspan is shorter than the LA 172. The undercarriage is also retractable.
The standard armament on the LA 272 involves four 7.62 mm MG’s or two 12.7 mm MG’s.
The rear compartment (2.5m²) behind the cockpit can carry two wounded persons.

If you have any more questions, information or pictures, please let us and me know. :)
